🎬 Honeyglue is the radical freedom found in having nothing left to lose. Morgan (Adriana Mather) is a conservative, "protected" young woman who has just been told she has three months to live. Her world is gray and clinical until she meets Jordan (Zach Villa), a purse-snatching, cross-dressing, free-spirited artist.
The atmosphere is vibrant, rebellious, and raw. The film moves with the frantic energy of a heartbeat, shifting from the sterile silence of hospital rooms to the chaotic beauty of Jordan's world. The viewer feels Morgan’s initial terror dissolve into a manic hunger for experience. It is a story about identity as a choice; Jordan teaches Morgan that she doesn't have to be a "patient"—she can be an explorer, a rebel, or anything she wants. Emotionally, it is a "middle finger" to tragedy, focusing on the messy, beautiful "glue" that holds two souls together when the world is falling apart.
Did you know? (Czy wiesz, że...)
Gender Fluidity: The character of Jordan was praised for being ahead of its time in mainstream indie cinema. Jordan identifies as a man but frequently wears dresses and makeup, and the film handles this with refreshing nonchalance—it’s just a part of who he is, not a "problem" to be solved.
Hand-Drawn Animation: The film features beautiful animated sequences that represent Morgan’s internal world and the "Honeyglue" story she and Jordan create together, adding a whimsical, fairy-tale layer to the grit.
Adriana Mather: The lead actress, Adriana Mather, is also a successful Young Adult novelist (How to Hang a Witch). Her background in storytelling likely contributed to the film's poetic dialogue.
Zach Villa: The actor playing Jordan is a multi-talented musician and performer (and was once one half of the band Rebel and a Basketcase with Evan Rachel Wood). His musical background brings a rhythmic, performative quality to his role.
