Set in the wealthy coastal community of Blue Bay, Florida, high school student Brittney Havers (Susan Ward) finds her privileged lifestyle threatened following the mysterious death of her wealthy stepfather in a private plane crash. Left out of the multimillion-dollar inheritance, Brittney finds herself in competition with her rebellious classmate, Maya King (Leila Arcieri), who steps forward claiming to be the late stepfather's illegitimate daughter.

An insurance investigator, Terence Bridge (Isaiah Washington), and local police detective Michael Morrison (Linden Ashby) launch an investigation into the suspicious circumstances surrounding the crash. As twists, double-crosses, and secret alliances unfold, Brittney and Maya reveal a hidden scheme involving blackmail, seduction, and murderโ€”mirroring the deceptive formula of the original 1998 cult film.
