Five young adults—Pete, Bryan, Rachel, Zack, and Kate—set off on a weekend camping trip to the mountain town of Halcyon Ridge. While stopping at a local diner and venturing into an abandoned stockyard, they discover a suitcase containing disturbing Super-8 reels that appear to be real snuff footage.

Shrugging off the eerie discovery, the group sets up camp in the woods, only to find themselves hunted down one by one by sadomasochistic killers who use hammers, power saws, and improvised torture devices. As their desperate escape attempt turns into a brutal fight for survival, the campers discover that the horrifying scenes captured on the film reels were recorded on the exact grounds where they are stranded.
