Esther (Marina Esteve) is a deeply insecure and shy woman who begins to suspect that her charismatic, seemingly perfect boyfriend, Robert (Paco Manzanedo), is having an affair. Driven by jealousy and a need for the truth, she decides to secretly follow him over the course of a day.
Her investigation leads her to an isolated remote cabin, but what she discovers shatters her reality. Robert isn't just cheating on her—he is a calculated, ruthless serial predator who has kidnapped another young woman, Silvia (Susana Abaitua). Trapped in the vicinity of the cabin with no immediate way to call for help, Esther is forced to overcome her paralyzing fears. She must make a terrifying choice: silently escape to save herself, or risk her own life by attempting to outsmart the psychopathic man she thought she loved in order to rescue Silvia.

Micro-Budget Directorial Debut: Compulsión is the feature directorial debut of Ángel González, who utilized a micro-budget, a highly contained location, and a tiny central cast to build a deeply suffocating atmosphere.
Hitchcockian Pacing: Clocking in at a brisk 71 minutes, the film is praised for abandoning unnecessary exposition in favor of immediate, Hitchcockian tension, playing out almost entirely in real-time once Esther discovers the cabin.
Release Year Confusion: Often listed as a 2017 or 2018 film due to its initial debut at Spanish genre festivals (like the Nocturna Madrid International Fantastic Film Festival in 2017) followed by wider international VOD distribution throughout 2018.

Highly regarded within independent horror circles for its efficient storytelling, wringing maximum suspense out of a minimalist premise and limited resources.
🎨 Suspense & Pacing: 7.5 / 10
A masterclass in lean indie filmmaking, using silence, claustrophobic camerawork, and Marina Esteve's expressive performance to maintain relentless tension.
📝 Portal Recommendation:
A great addition to Spanish Thriller Archives, Micro-Budget Horror Spotlights, and Contained Suspense Collections. Pairs naturally with titles like Sleep Tight (2011), The Body (2012), or Creep (2014).
