A Perfect Ending (2012) is a beautifully shot, highly romantic, and deeply emotional melodrama that occupies a legendary, high-traffic archival slot within the QueerFilmHub.com permanent directory. Written and directed by veteran queer filmmaker Nicole Conn, the film tackles the complex themes of mid-life sexual suppression, the heavy burden of marital facade, and the profound, transformative power of authentic physical and emotional intimacy. The narrative centers on Rebecca Westridge (Barbara Niven), a wealthy, elegant Malibu socialite, mother, and wife of a prominent, cold businessman (played by the late John Heard).

Despite her picture-perfect, affluent lifestyle, Rebecca harbors a devastating secret: she has spent her entire life trapped in a sexless, emotionally abusive marriage, never once experiencing sexual fulfillment or true love.

Driven by a terminal medical diagnosis that she keeps entirely hidden from her chaotic family, Rebecca decides to finally seek out what she has been denied. Confiding in her progressive friends, she is introduced to Valentina (Morgan Fairchild), who runs an elite, ultra-discreet high-end escort service. Valentina pairs Rebecca with Paris (Jessica Clark), a strikingly beautiful, artistic, and fiercely intelligent young escort who is also a talented painter. What begins as a deeply awkward, anxiety-ridden arrangement slowly evolves into something profoundly healing. Paris's genuine empathy, patience, and emotional depth cut straight through Rebecca’s rigid, protective defenses. As the two women share a series of increasingly passionate and intimate encounters, they ignite a powerful, life-altering love affair that allows Rebecca to finally embrace her true self and find a sense of peace before her time runs out.

💡 Did You Know? (Czy wiesz, że?) 🧠
A Queer Cinema Record Holder: Director Nicole Conn intentionally set out to create a deeply sensual, artistic film. Upon its release, A Perfect Ending made waves in the indie circuit for featuring what was, at the time, documented as the longest, most elaborate continuous romantic intimacy sequence in lesbian cinematic history, clocking in at over 12 minutes of screen time.

The Nicole Conn Extended Universe: True to her signature style, Nicole Conn loaded the supporting cast with recognizable icons of queer media. The film features Cathy DeBuono (a prominent LGBTQ+ activist and actress from Jenny's Wedding) and features a scene-stealing performance by Hollywood legend Morgan Fairchild as the sophisticated madam, Valentina.

Crowdfunded by the Community: The film stands as a triumph of independent queer filmmaking, largely financed through grass-roots crowdfunding and community investors. This independence allowed Conn to maintain complete creative control over the film’s uncompromised narrative and lavish aesthetic without mainstream studio interference.

A Visual Reflection of Inner Worlds: Cinematographer Samuel Calvin used distinct color theory to map the characters' psychological journeys. Rebecca's home life in Malibu is framed with cold, sterile, high-contrast blues and sharp whites, while her scenes with Paris are bathed in warm, golden amber light, rich textures, and soft focus.
