At QueerFilmHub, our editorial mission has always been rooted in challenging power dynamics, standing with the marginalized, and refusing to look away from systemic neglect. We dissect films that explore vulnerability, rejection, and the fight for dignity. But critical theory and artistic analysis mean little if they remain isolated from real-world action.
This month, we are focusing our attention on the "My dla Nich" section of the Równi Wobec Życia Foundation—a grassroots team of volunteers dedicated to rescuing animals in the greatest need: the elderly, the sick, accident victims, and the abandoned.
Marginalization Beyond the ScreenThe core of queer cinema lies in radical empathy—the capacity to recognize humanity, value, and suffering where mainstream society often chooses to see an inconvenience. Animals under the care of this foundation exist at a similar intersection of human neglect and institutional indifference.
The activists of "My dla Nich" take in dogs that wouldn't stand a chance elsewhere—funding complex surgeries, medical care, and hotel boarding. Many of these animals have been waiting for a home for years. Importantly, all members and volunteers work on a 100% voluntary basis, without receiving a single penny of salary.
Independent filmmaking teaches us that small, grassroots initiatives can disrupt giant, indifferent structures. Supporting the volunteers operating under the banner "My dla Nich" is that exact same form of uncompromised solidarity.
How Our Community Can HelpThe monthly expenses for boarding, veterinary treatment, food, and transport for these rescued dogs are immense. We call on QueerFilmHub readers, creators, and supporters to extend their direct help:
Financial Donations & Monthly Support: Every donation counts toward settling vet bills and securing hotel space for dogs awaiting adoption.
Virtual or Real Adoption: Consider giving a home to an older or sick dog, or support their monthly care as a virtual adoptive parent.
Amplify Their Cause: Share the shelter's campaigns and animal profiles across your social networks.
Art should sharpen our sensitivity to harm and injustice. Let’s turn that sensitivity into tangible solidarity.
