Daphne (Daphne Scoccia) is a fiercely independent, volatile, and deeply troubled young woman drifting through life on the margins of Rome. After pulling a series of aggressive cell phone robberies on the local transit tracks, she is arrested and transferred to a high-security juvenile detention facility. Inside the prison, the environment is rigidly clinical and strictly segregated by gender—the young men and women reside in completely separate wings, their everyday movements monitored by intense correctional oversight.

Despite the heavy physical barriers, a sudden, magnetic connection sparks when Daphne locks eyes with Josh (Josciua Algeri), a young inmate serving time in the male wing.

Barred from any physical contact or direct conversation, the two teenagers construct a secret, highly creative communication system. They exchange coded glances during communal mass, trade contraband letters hidden in plastic trays across the central kitchen lines, and shout whispered messages through the bars of their cell windows after dark. Concurrently, Daphne tries to navigate a fragile relationship with her estranged, newly released father, Ascanio (Valerio Mastandrea), who is struggling to build his own stable life. As the weight of institutional control closes in, Daphne and Josh's forbidden bond deepens into a frantic, vital lifeline, driving them toward a desperate longing for freedom where love is the ultimate act of rebellion.

Authentic Street Casting: Director Claudio Giovannesi chose to cast non-professional actors in the central roles to guarantee absolute authenticity. Breakout star Daphne Scoccia was discovered by the production team while working as a waitress in a Roman trattoria, winning critical acclaim for her incredibly raw, intuitive debut.

A Masterclass Reunion: The film features a spectacular supporting performance from veteran Italian star Valerio Mastandrea as Daphne’s fragile father. (Mastandrea also co-starred in Valeria Golino's Euforia).

Cannes Selection: The project enjoyed a highly successful international premiere in the prestigious Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) section at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, establishing Giovannesi as a premier voice in modern European neo-realism.
