Iva (Olga Pakalović) and Marija (Nina Violić) are two young, deeply in love university students seeking a quiet place to build a life together away from prying eyes. They manage to secure a relatively cheap room in a crumbling, post-war apartment complex in Zagreb. To protect themselves from the deeply conservative social environment, the couple chooses to hide the true nature of their relationship, presenting themselves to their neighbors simply as two platonic roommates and close friends.
Initially, their landlady, Olga (Inge Appelt), is thrilled with them, treating them as the only polite, respectable tenants in a building filled with chaotic personalities.
However, the domestic sanctuary quickly transforms into a psychological nightmare. As the highly eccentric and deeply damaged neighbors begin to pry into the girls' lives, the truth about their romance is accidentally exposed. The revelation triggers a sudden wave of toxic homophobia, religious fanaticism, and violent entitlement from the building's occupants—including Olga's predatory, aggressive son, Daniel (Krešimir Mikić). Trapped in an escalating, claustrophobic trap of surveillance and hostility, Iva and Marija watch their peaceful life spiral toward a devastating, inevitable tragedy that exposes the raw wounds of a deeply fractured society.
