The film kicks off in the mid-1980s on the sun-drenched, hedonistic island of Ibiza. Xavier Font (Jaime Lorente), a passionate, rebellious designer, leads a tight-knit collective of friends who live a communal lifestyle focused on avant-garde fashion, nightlife, and fluid self-expression. They become a sensation in Ibiza's legendary clubs purely through their look—wearing massive, oversized shoulder pads and dancing with heavy, traditional hand fans.

Their unique style catches the eye of José Luis Gil (Alberto Ammann), a powerful, traditional record executive looking for the next big commercial crossover. Gil convinces the group to pack up their lives and move to Madrid, promising them global stardom under a singular condition: they must transform from a silent fashion collective into a mainstream singing boy band.

Renamed Locomía, the group achieves dizzying success across Spain and Latin America. However, the dream rapidly sours. Gil enforces a strict regime of closeted marketing, forcing the predominantly queer members to pretend to be straight heartthrobs for the media. The emotional core of the film is the toxic, escalating power struggle between Xavier, who fights to preserve the group's artistic, counter-culture identity, and Gil, who prioritizes commercial viability. As paranoia, huge financial contracts, and internal romantic rivalries tear the band apart from within, their historical shot at breaking into the US market implodes in a wave of lawsuits.

💡 Did You Know? 🧠
Familiar Faces: The film features a massive ensemble of Spanish acting elite. Jaime Lorente is globally recognized for playing Denver in Money Heist (La Casa de Papel), while Alberto Ammann famously played Pacho Herrera in Narcos.

The Real Lurdes: Blanca Suárez plays Lurdes Iribar, the lone female member of the original collective. While the label eventually pushed her to the background to market the band strictly as a male group, she was historically the mastermind behind sewing and engineering the iconic costumes.

A Resurgent Story: The film serves as a stylized cinematic companion to the highly-rated 2022 Movistar Plus+ documentary series Locomía, which sparked a massive wave of retro public interest in the band's tragic corporate history.
