👑 REVIEW: What Keeps You Alive (2018)

My Take:

This is one of the most ruthless thrillers in recent years. It starts as a romantic getaway to a cabin in the woods but rapidly descends into a bloody cat-and-mouse game. What sets this film apart is that it takes no prisoners—it's brutal, emotionally draining, and keeps the tension high until the very last second.

What's Captivating: The acting showdown between Brittany Allen and Hannah Emily Anderson. One plays terror, the other icy sociopathy—the chemistry between them (even when murderous) is incredible. The UV light cinematography in one of the key scenes is a visual masterpiece.

A Word of Caution: The film is violent and quite pessimistic at times. If you're looking for a "feel-good" lesbian romance, stay far away. This is pure horror.

Verdict: 7.5/10 🔪

A powerful, bloody, and well-acted thriller that proves queer cinema has plenty of room for darkness and villains.

🔍 Did you know...?

Lead actress Brittany Allen not only played the main character (Jules) but also composed the film's entire musical score. Furthermore, in real life, Brittany Allen and director Colin Minihan were a couple at the time. Their collaboration gave the production a uniquely intense and personal feel.
