My Take:
Catherine (Julianne Moore), a successful doctor, begins to suspect her husband is cheating. To test him, she hires a high-end escort named Chloe (Amanda Seyfried) to seduce him and report back on his actions. But the game quickly spirals out of control. Catherine finds herself fascinated not just by Chloe's stories, but by Chloe herself. The line between jealousy and desire blurs, leading into a dangerous triangle where no one is telling the full truth. It’s a film about female loneliness and the desperate need to be seen, wrapped in the cold, luxurious aesthetic of Toronto.
What's Captivating: The Moore–Seyfried dynamic. Julianne Moore is the queen of playing women on the verge of a breakdown, while Amanda Seyfried is both innocent and terrifyingly manipulative. Their scenes together are charged with an incredible (and queer-coded) tension that drives the movie far more than the plot itself.
A Word of Caution: The finale is controversial, leaning into a more conventional thriller territory that might feel a bit jarring after the slow-burn buildup. It’s strictly for mature audiences—bold, sensual, and intentionally provocative.
Verdict: 7.5/10 💄🍷💍
Sensual, unsettling, and visually polished. Perfect for those who love obsession-themed thrillers led by powerhouse actresses.

Real-life tragedy struck during the production of the film. Liam Neeson had to leave the set abruptly following the sudden death of his wife, Natasha Richardson. Production was halted, and director Atom Egoyan later had to rework the schedule so Neeson could finish his scenes in just a few days. As for Amanda Seyfried, her role as Chloe was a major career turning point, allowing her to break away from the "girl next door" image she had from Mamma Mia!.
