“Sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll... all before sunrise.”
VIBE CHECK:
Lesbian Musical / Comedy / Grindhouse Lite / Rock Aesthetic
THE PLOT:
The entire film explodes over the course of one wild night in LA. We follow five women whose paths collide in a haze of rock music and romantic entanglements. Daisy and Tyler are trying to make it to the biggest gig of their lives, while Daisy’s sister, Colby, is on a mission to seduce the beautiful (and seemingly unattainable) Misty. Toss in some run-ins with local thugs, police chases, and a series of catchy punk-rock musical numbers, and you have a night that no one will forget.
THE QUEER ANGLE:
Star-Studded Legacy: The film is a "who's who" of queer cinema icons from that era, featuring stars like Gabrielle Christian (South of Nowhere), Mandy Musgrave, and Rose Rollins (The L Word).
Breaking the Drama: It’s a rare film where being queer isn't a "problem" to be solved—it’s just the baseline for a high-energy adventure. It celebrates youth, desire, and female power without taking itself too seriously.
WHY IT KILLS:
If you have a soft spot for 2010s indie aesthetics, this is pure nostalgia. The music is actually great, the chemistry is electric, and the DIY energy makes it feel like a passion project made by the community, for the community. It’s the ultimate "guilty pleasure" that’s actually just a great time.
