Set in 1930s rural England, Cracks takes place within a secluded, elite girls' boarding school. Miss G (Eva Green) is the glamorous, bohemian diving instructor idolized by her young female students. Encouraging non-conformity, exotic travel stories, and free-spirited passion, Miss G holds an intoxicating psychological sway over her tight-knit diving team, led by the fiercely loyal ringleader Di Radfield (Juno Temple).
The delicate hierarchy of the group shatters with the arrival of Fiamma Coronna (Marรญa Valverde), an aristocratic, sophisticated Spanish transfer student. Unlike the other girls, Fiamma is unimpressed by Miss G's theatrical facade and quickly sees through her lies. As Miss G becomes obsessed with breaking Fiamma's resistance and winning her affection, Di's jealousy boils over, sparking a dark sequence of manipulation, betrayal, and tragedy.
