An exchange of passive-aggressive insults quickly escalates into a brutal, bloody fistfight in the stairwell, leaving Veronica in a multi-year coma. Upon waking up, Veronica discovers she has lost her wealth, husband, and status, while Ashley has risen to fame and fortune.
