Jamie Klein (Michelle Ehlen) is a struggling, out-of-work butch lesbian actress in Los Angeles trying to break into the film industry. Tired of being constantly rejected for traditional female roles due to her masculine presentation, Jamie decides to audition for a male role in an upcoming independent feature. To her surprise, the filmmakers are impressed by her performance and cast her under the impression that she is a biological man.
Things complicate when Jill (Tiffany Anne Carrin), a straight woman working on the film crew, becomes attracted to Jamie's male alter-ego. As Jamie enters into a romantic connection with Jill under false pretenses, she finds herself navigating a hilarious yet delicate web of mistaken identity, double lives, and evolving gender dynamics.
