👑 REVIEW: Dying for Sex (2025)

My Take:
Michelle Williams (once again proving her genius) plays a woman diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic breast cancer. Instead of spiraling into despair, she takes a radical step: she leaves her husband and embarks on a journey of sexual exploration to feel alive again. This isn't a "sad cancer show." It’s an incredibly honest, often hilarious, and very bold story about reclaiming one’s body and autonomy when faced with mortality.

What's Captivating: Authenticity and humor. The series isn't afraid to show sex in an uninhibited way, but it's always grounded in emotion. The relationship between the protagonist and her best friend (played by the great Jenny Slate) is the heart of the story—showing that platonic love is just as powerful as romantic love. Visually, it’s modern, vibrant, and full of life.

A Word of Caution: The subject matter is heavy—death and illness are constant undercurrents to the humor. The show can be quite graphic regarding both medical and sexual details, so be prepared for an uncensored experience.

Verdict: 9.2/10 🍒💔
Likely the most important series of the year. You’ll laugh through the tears, and it’ll make you want to live life to the fullest.

🔍 Did you know...?
The series is based on the hit real-life podcast of the same name that went viral globally. Showrunner Leslye Headland (of Russian Doll fame) ensured the production maintained the intimate character of the original source material. Michelle Williams spoke extensively with the podcast creators to honor the real-life story of Molly Levy. Interestingly, the costume design reflects the protagonist's transformation—from the muted tones of a suburban wife to the bold, expressive styles of a woman with nothing left to lose.
