👑 REVIEW: Christmas at the Ranch (2021)

My Take:
Haley, a high-powered city girl, returns to her family’s farm to help save her beloved grandmother’s ranch from foreclosure. There, she meets Kate—the tough, hardworking, and undeniably charming ranch hand. Initially, sparks fly (and not the good kind), but working together to save the family legacy combined with the magic of the season starts to melt the ice. It’s a classic "enemies to lovers" trope set against a picturesque winter backdrop.

What's Captivating: The "feel-good" factor. This is a "safe" movie—you know there’s a happy ending coming, and the path there is paved with mistletoe and hot cocoa. The chemistry between the leads is natural and sweet. It’s a great alternative to the sugary Hallmark holiday movies, providing the queer representation we still crave in this genre.

A Word of Caution: It’s a lower-budget production, which shows in some of the technical polish. The plot is predictable from mile one—if you’re looking for a deep psychological drama, keep walking. This is pure, escapist fun.

Verdict: 7.0/10 🎄🐎✨
Cute, warm, and unpretentious. Perfect for a night when all you want is a happy ending and beautiful horses in the snow.

The film was produced by Tello Films, a streaming platform dedicated specifically to stories about queer women. This was one of their most ambitious projects, aimed at proving that lesbian holiday movies can be just as popular and "feel-good" as their mainstream counterparts. Director Christin Baker is a pioneer in creating lighthearted queer content, and she managed to cast Lindsay Wagner—the legendary "Bionic Woman"—which was a huge treat for fans of classic TV.
