๐Ÿ‘‘ REVIEW: Chloe Likes Olivia (2011)

My Take:
Chloe is a quiet, somewhat introverted girl working in a local bookstore (is there a more queer-coded beginning?). Her life gets a lot brighter when Olivia shows upโ€”cheerful, energetic, and clearly interested in her. The film follows their trip to the woods, which serves as a metaphor for discovering their own feelings. It's a simple yet incredibly warm story about the difficulty of taking that first step and the magic of a wordless connection.

What's Captivating: Authenticity. The film doesn't try to be anything other than a sincere portrait of two young women. The chemistry between the leads is charmingly awkward, making anyone who has ever had a first "crush" feel right at home. The outdoor cinematography adds a sense of lightness and natural beauty.

A Word of Caution: Itโ€™s a short film (running about 18 minutes), so the story ends sooner than you'd like. The production is very indie, which shows in the simple editing and sound design, but that only adds to its genuine "indie" charm.

Verdict: 7.5/10 (for pure charm!) ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒฒโœจ
A short, sweet dose of positive energy. Perfect for a quick "comfort watch" before bed.

๐Ÿ” Did you know...?
The film was created by Mye Hoang, who wanted to tell a story about the "small moments" that change everything. It became a viral hit within the LGBTQ+ community on YouTube, racking up millions of viewsโ€”a massive feat for such a small project. For many, it was one of the first lesbian films found online that didn't end in tragedy, earning it a loyal fanbase that lasts to this day.
