👑 REVIEW: Cat Skin (2017)

My Take:
Cat is a shy, introverted photography student who feels most comfortable behind the lens, observing the world from a safe distance. Her isolation is broken when she meets April—a vibrant, charming girl who brings light and chaos into Cat’s life. The film follows the slow process of them growing closer, building trust, and discovering first love. It’s a story about how someone can become your "safe place," but also about the fears and difficulties of growing up and coming out in a world that isn't always ready for your truth.

What's Captivating: Cinematography and atmosphere. The film is beautifully shot—every frame looks like an art photograph (perfectly matching Cat’s passion). The relationship between Cat and April is shown with incredible delicacy, almost ethereal in its execution. It’s cinema filled with sun rays filtering through trees, hazy evenings, and quiet conversations. The leads (Jodie Hirst and Faye Sewell) share an effortless, natural chemistry.

A Word of Caution: The slow pace. If you’re looking for fast action or dramatic soap-opera twists, Cat Skin might feel too static. It’s a mood piece focused on internal experiences rather than a plot-driven thriller.

Verdict: 7.5/10 📷🍃💕
A visual feast about self-discovery and the beauty of first love. The perfect movie to watch under a blanket on a rainy evening.
