👑 REVIEW: Casanova Was a Woman (2016)

My Take:
Meet Cassandra Gutierrez—a bisexual actress with Cuban roots navigating total life chaos. Her career is stalling, and her romantic life is a rollercoaster. When Cassandra falls for a woman, it triggers a chain of hilarious misunderstandings, especially within her traditional Latino family. The film is packed with fast-paced humor, fourth-wall breaking (she talks straight to us!), and vibrant characters. It’s a story about how looking for love is often a struggle, but one worth enduring with a grin.

What's Captivating: Energy and heart. You can tell this was a passion project. Jezabel Montero (who stars, wrote, and directed) is incredibly charismatic. Her character is flawed, funny, and very human. The film portrays bisexual identity in a natural, non-dramatic way, focusing instead on situational comedy and wit.

A Word of Caution: The budget. This is a gritty, low-budget indie production. Don't expect Hollywood polish or seamless editing. Some of the jokes are quite campy and over-the-top, but if you appreciate "DIY" cinema with a soul, you’ll dig the vibe.

Verdict: 6.5/10 🎭💕🇨🇺
A positive, colorful, and totally indie comedy about finding yourself. Perfect for a quick mood boost!
