๐Ÿ‘‘ REVIEW: Breathe (2014)

My Take:
Charlie is a shy, ordinary teen whose world is set on fire when the magnetic Sarah joins her class. Sarah is everything Charlie isn't: wild, confident, and free. They become inseparable, but the honey-moon phase quickly sours as Sarah reveals herself to be a master manipulator. Itโ€™s a masterful study of how a deep connection can turn into a suffocating obsession.

What's Captivating: The performances and the direction. Japy and de Laรขge are electrifying. Melanie Laurent captures the sensuality of summer and the chilling cold of emotional abuse with equal precision. The ending is a psychological gut-punch that you won't forget.

A Word of Caution: Itโ€™s emotionally taxing. This is a "trigger warning" kind of film for anyone who has dealt with a narcissist. Itโ€™s brilliant, but itโ€™s heavy.

Verdict: 8.5/10 ๐Ÿ’จ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท
Beautiful, cruel, and absolutely hypnotic. A masterpiece of psychological tension.
