“A walk down memory lane that leads straight to the bedroom.”
VIBE CHECK:
Relationship Comedy / Awkward Humor / Suburban Satire / Sexual Awakening
THE PLOT:
Noel (Josh Lawson) and Audra (Nathalie Emmanuel) are a struggling couple trying to conceive while their marriage slips into a predictable rut. Everything changes when Audra’s eccentric college roommate, Holly (Britt Lower), comes to visit for the weekend. Noel soon discovers that Audra and Holly once shared a passionate sexual history. As the weekend progresses, a series of misunderstandings, competitive vibes, and resurfacing feelings lead to a night that forces the couple to redefine what they want from their relationship—and each other.
THE QUEER & RADICAL ANGLE:
The Fluidity of the Past: The film is radical in how it treats Audra’s past queer relationship not as a "phase," but as a significant, unresolved emotional chapter that still holds power over her present.
Casual Bisexuality: While the setup feels like a classic "male fantasy" trope, the film subverts it by focusing on the genuine emotional intimacy between the two women, leaving the husband as the bewildered outsider looking in.
Democratizing the Threesome: It moves the conversation away from exploitation and toward a radical honesty about curiosity, jealousy, and the complexity of modern monogamy.
WHY IT KILLS:
The cast is the secret weapon here. Nathalie Emmanuel (Game of Thrones) and Britt Lower (Severance) have a magnetic, "slow-simmering" chemistry that feels grounded and real. The film excels at "cringe comedy," finding the humor in the absolute awkwardness of suburbanites trying to be "adventurous." It’s a lighthearted but surprisingly insightful look at how we often hide the most interesting parts of ourselves from the people we love the most.
