“Love is a dangerous fuel.”
VIBE CHECK:
Italian Neo-Noir / Lesbian Crime Thriller / Road Movie / Psychological Grit
THE PLOT:
Stella and Lenni are young, in love, and run a gas station in the middle of nowhere. Their world is small but theirs, until Lenni’s mother arrives, causing a violent confrontation that ends in a tragic accident. Desperate and terrified of being separated by the law, the two girls dump the body in the trunk and go on the run. What follows is a feverish, drug-infused night across the Italian landscape where their bond is pushed to the ultimate breaking point.
THE QUEER ANGLE:
Us Against the World: This isn't a "coming out" story; it's a "staying together at all costs" story. Their sexuality is the foundation of their rebellion.
The Dynamic: Stella (Maya Sansa) is the fiery, dark-haired mechanic, and Lenni (Regina Orioli) is the fragile, blonde soul. Their chemistry is electric and desperate, capturing the "ride or die" energy that defines the best crime romances.
WHY IT KILLS:
It’s a stylish, "MTV-generation" take on Italian cinema. It’s loud, it’s sweaty, and it feels like a fever dream. The movie explores the darker side of passion—how love can make you do the unthinkable and how guilt can haunt a relationship even more than a ghost.
